Facebook Revenue May Reach $1.5 Billion

Oh yes, you read it right, it's $1.5 billion.

Speculations (hate to use this word because it was obvious) were around that facebook will break its record 2009 revenue of $550 million ($300 million in 2008), and Wall Street Journal said it would be around $710 million in 2010, but nobody expected the big fat amount to be nearly $1.5 billion.

Specialist eMarketers have recently estimated $1.28 billion.

We all know that facebook is growing by thousands of users daily and expected that it will reach 400 million users within this year. According to TBI research, that gives the above information, facebook may reach half a billion users in the coming year.

Now you may think how does facebook make money!

Founded in 2006 FB is now the world's largest social networking site and has been developing a business with positive cash flow and a working operational business model during these years.
The main source of revenue for facebook is advertising.

For example:

1. Self-service ads.
2. Engagement ads.

There are also sources like featured gifts and virtual goods. You may remember the 'limited edition Aviator Sunglasses' FB offered at 1,000,000 units for a price of $1.
I don't think you need a calculator to make out how many dollars that ends up in.

Good news is, seems like our favorite FB is all set to recruit a lot...and you never know what luck has for you in store.

After all, everybody dreams to be a part of a billion dollar organization.

Happy facebooking :-)
